Tanikawa Shuntaro’s Cosmic Language.

詩人・谷川俊太郎氏の作品「二十億光年の孤独」「コカコーラレッスン」の一語一語を、全て異なる幾何学形状のタイポグラフィーに置き換えポスターとして仕立てました。読む人にとっては“文字”になり、見る人にとっては“かたち”となる。日常の風景の中で、詩の世界と自然に共存できるよう言葉のリズムを視覚化して、読むだけではない“感じる”グラフィック作品として再創造を試みました。谷川俊太郎氏はインタビューで、この冒険的なスタイルに「日本語が宇宙語に翻訳されたかのようだ。私たち自身も知らない、詩の異次元を予感させる。これは単なるデザインではない。」と、語ってくださいました。我々の意図が通じ、新たな価値観を共有させていただけたことがとても嬉しかったです。

We wanted to make it easier for the world of poetry to coexist with nature in the everyday landscape. By visualizing the rhythm of the words, we recreated the poem as a graphic work that you don’t just read, you feel. When asked in an interview what he thought about this adventurous new style, Shuntaro Tanikawa replied, “It is as if the Japanese has been translated into the language of the cosmos, and we can sense a different dimension of poetry unknown to us. This is no ordinary design.” We were delighted that our vision for the project was understood and we could share a new perspective.
